Wales survived a fierce Fijian test to win their third pool match 29-17 in Oita and book a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals. Fiji made an explosive start scoring two tries inside 10 minutes. Wales worked their way back into the match with two first-half tries from Josh Adams to lead 14-10 at half-time. Fiji re-took the lead in the 54th minute when they were awarded a penalty try after Wales pulled down a driving maul. A Rhys Patchell penalty drew Wales level before Josh Adams completed his hat-trick to put Wales back in front.
