Japan booked a place in the World Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Scotland following a hugely impressive 28-21 victory by the hosts in Yokohama. Scotland were first to score when Finn Russell crossed for a try in the 7th minute. Japan then surged into a 21-7 half-time lead following tries from Kotaro Matsushima, Keita Inagaki and Kenki Fukuoka. After the break, Fukuoka went over for his second try to further extend Japan's lead. Scotland fought back with tries from Willem Nel and Zander Fagerson, but Japan held on to claim a much-deserved victory. A selection of match reports is listed below:
