South Africa v Ireland Match Reports

Ireland beat the Springboks 25-24 in a thrilling second Test in Durban thanks to a last minute drop-goal from Ciaran Frawley. An intense and bloody first half ended 16-6 in Ireland's favour. The tourists' points came from a Connor Murray try and four successful kicks by Jack Crowley. The Springboks' points came from two Handre Pollard penalty kicks in a bruising opening for the hosts. After the break, Pollard slotted another two penalty kicks as the Springboks started to find some momentum. Ireland, meanwhile, lost their captain to the sin-bin for an infringement at the ruck. The lead swung back and forth as Pollard and Crowley traded yet more penalty kicks. By the time Pollard had struck his eighth successful kick, the Springboks had taken a 5-point lead. Frawley then kicked a long-range drop-goal to reduce the deficit to 2-points going into the final 10 minutes. Incredibly, Frawley duplicated his previous drop-goal in the 80th minute to give Ireland a famous victory over the world champions. A selection of match reports is listed below:
