Japan v England Match Reports

England out-muscled Japan to take a 52-17 victory in their first Test encounter on Japanese soil. The visitors scored four first-half tries to build a commanding 26-3 lead at the break, with Chandler Cunningham-South, Marcus Smith, Immanuel Feyi-Waboso and Henry Slade all crossing. Shortly after the restart, Alex Mitchell added a fifth England try. Ben Earl crashed over soon afterwards to make it six. Marcus Smith was sin-binned for stopping a Japan attack with an early tackle in the 55th minute, but being a man down didn't stop England from scoring a seventh try as Harry Randall darted through. Japan got their first try when Koga Nezuka dived into the corner in the 66th minute. A second Japan try followed moments later when Takuya Yamasawa finished a fine break. Charlie Ewels was sin-binned for a dangerous tackle inside the final ten minutes, which was later upgraded to a red card. Sam Underhill added an eighth England try to bring up the half-century of points and wrap up a comprehensive victory. A selection of match reports is listed below:
