Wales suffered a major blow ahead of their World Cup quarter-final against France in Oita when centre Jonathan Davies was ruled out.

The Welsh Rugby Union said that Davies had aggravated a knee injury suffered against Fiji 11 days ago.

Owen Watkin moved off the bench to replace him, with Leigh Halfpenny joining the replacements.

Wing George North (ankle) and fly-half Dan Biggar (concussion) were fit to start, while France pair Damian Penaud and Antoine Dupont also shrugged off knocks.
