Australia captain Michael Hooper calls for consistency during November Tests

Australia captain Michael Hooper wants the Wallabies to shelve their inconsistency as they prepare for three November Tests.

Hooper and company will target a 14th successive victory against Wales on Saturday, which is followed by appointments with Italy and England.

But they have arrived in Cardiff following a poor 2018 that has seen them win just three Tests.

"It has been an inconsistent year for us, so we have got to change that around," Hooper said.

"We use that word consistency a lot, and that is what we are chasing and working towards.

"There have been tough times this year and good times, and we want good times to continue on this trip."

And Hooper has dismissed that Australia's long winning sequence over Wales has any relevance this weekend.

He added: "If you are thinking about times previously in games, you are thinking about the wrong thing. If you are doing that, you are probably not in the moment.

"If you look at the dynamic of our team, not a lot have been part of those Wales fixtures. We have got to be thinking in the moment.

"We know that Wales have had six wins in a row and are ranked third in the world. They are a quality team, and it is going to be a real challenge.

"We have got a really good rivalry with Wales, and it is always a tough fixture. We are ready to go for tomorrow."

Australia head coach Michael Cheika feels that some of the disappointment the Wallabies have experienced this year will help them on their autumn campaign.

"Some of the pain and hurt we have felt this year will only help us," Cheika said.

"I can see people inside the team starting to change things because they do not want to feel that pain again.

"For us, it is all about looking in the mirror. We have massive respect for Wales, and you have seen the run they are on and where they are in the world rankings.

"That shows their quality, but we need to focus on ourselves.

"There will be a few bits and pieces of our opponents we look at technically, but it is about our players playing the best they can and performing with real clarity, certainty, energy and aggression. Then everything will fall into place.

"We don't mind running as an underdog, don't worry about us. We will enjoy that status, not that I am a gambling man, and we love playing in the great atmosphere there (Principality Stadium). We are looking forward to it."
